A Magpie Tales post.

Fall
Whisper the winter wind
as you coldly blow
through cottonwool cheeks.
Your breath scorching
the unsettled leaves,
like guests at a party
not wanting to go.
Whistle that wind,
whirring through branches
Causing copses of trees
to don yellow sou’westers
as they shiver their way
into darkening days.

love the guest in a party idea.
beautiful Fall poem!
Thanks for sharing….
lovely word flow and fabulous sentiments in your word paining!
Thanks for the kind words Jingle. I’m sure you meant “painting” but I think “word paining” is a good description of the poetic process!
painting of course….
sorry for the typo.
u r super kind.
I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that the first line “Whisper the winter wind” caught my attention.
I’ve always been a fan of anthropomorphism in poetry.
This is just beautiful… I loved every word!
Cottonwool cheeks is just marvelous!!
I agree with all the other comments. This was just so beautifully written. It felt good on the tongue and sounded soft to the ear.

Very nice!
autumn is making me a bit sad, it means the dead of summer for me and I love summer! The poem is nicely put, but it saddened me …
Thanks for the comment, I’m really sorry to make you sad! I hope winter is over soon for you…
No! I’m not sad! I’m happy person in general! It’s just that autumn gives me this bittersweet taste of losing something I love very much, the summer! But I know another one will come soon, so everything it’s just fine!
I really liked this – such a vivid description of autumn!
Thanks ~T~ and Ana for your comments!

Thanks Scent of my Heart, I like that bittersweet feeling. It fits in well with a general sense of melancholia that tends to follow me around! And, as you say, autumn and winter soon turn and let spring and summer take their place.
By the way, I really like your rain poem, very physical and evocative…
Why are you following around sense of melancholia? Isn’t it better to keep yourself somewhere bright and nice? Thanks for reading my poem, the rainy one is one of my favorite!
Oh, me and my melancholia are old companions. He is quite obedient, most of the time and helps appreciate those bittersweet moments all the more.
